Planning a spring move? February to May is the busiest moving season in the Valley, and good crews can book up weeks ahead. If you have a closing date, request quotes early.

How it works

We’re a referral service, not a packing company. Here’s exactly what happens when you ask for a quote.

1

Tell us about your move

Fill in the short form below — where you’re moving from, what you need packed or unpacked, and roughly when.

2

We share your request

We pass your details to independent packing and unpacking providers who serve your part of the West Valley.

3

A provider contacts you

They’ll ask a few questions and arrange a walkthrough or video call so they can give you a written estimate.

4

You decide

Compare, ask questions, and book directly with the provider — or don’t. There’s no obligation and no cost to request.

Why Phoenix moving season runs backwards — and why it matters to you

Most of the country moves in summer. Phoenix does the opposite. The Valley’s busiest seasons are February to May and September to November, because moving in 110°F is genuinely difficult and, for older residents, risky.

That has two practical consequences. In spring and autumn, good crews can book up weeks ahead — leave it late in March and you may not get the week you want. In midsummer, availability tends to open up, provided the job is planned around the heat.

Monsoon season, mid-June through September, adds sudden downpours and dust storms. Ask any provider how they plan for heat and weather on the day.

Common situations — and what to ask for

  • “Closing is in eleven days and I haven’t started.” → Ask for full packing, and whether a same-day or next-day crew is available. Put your closing date in your request.
  • “Mom’s moving into assisted living and I live out of state.” → Ask for senior downsizing help, a video walkthrough, and photos or a written inventory as they go.
  • “The movers delivered and left. There are seventy boxes in my living room.” → Request unpacking only, and confirm that box and paper removal is included.
  • “We leave for Minnesota in April and the house sits empty till October.” → Ask about a seasonal pack-down and reopen for snowbird homes.
  • “I’ve got a china cabinet I’m genuinely frightened of.” → Ask for fragile and specialty packing — dish packs, cell dividers and mirror cartons.
  • “It’s July and 112°F.” → Ask how the provider handles heat: early starts, and keeping candles, vinyl, electronics and medication out of hot garages and trucks.

What packing usually costs — rough planning ranges

Most packing providers charge by the hour per packer, plus materials. The ranges below are rough figures to help you budget. They are not quotes. Each independent provider sets its own prices.

What to ask any packing company before you book

Whoever you hire — through us or not — these questions protect you.

  • Is the estimate written and itemized? And what happens if the job turns out bigger than expected?
  • What’s included? Boxes, paper, dish packs, wardrobe boxes, and removal of packing debris.
  • Are you insured? Ask for a certificate of insurance and how damage claims work.
  • Who will be in my home? Employees or subcontractors, and whether they’re background-checked.
  • How are boxes I pack myself handled? Movers often limit coverage on owner-packed boxes.
  • Do you know my community’s rules? 55+ and gated communities such as Sun City, Sun City West, Sun City Grand and PebbleCreek have their own contractor procedures.
  • What’s your summer heat plan? Start times, and where heat-sensitive items wait.
  • What are the deposit, rescheduling and cancellation terms?

Common questions

Who actually does the packing?

Independent, third-party packing and unpacking providers who serve the West Valley. West Valley Packing and Unpacking is a referral service: we don’t employ packers or perform the work, and we don’t guarantee any provider’s work, price or availability.

Does it cost anything to request a quote?

No. Requesting a quote is free and there’s no obligation to book. Any price you pay is agreed directly with the provider you choose.

How much does packing cost in Phoenix?

It depends on home size, how full the home is, fragile items, stairs and timing. Providers commonly charge by the hour per packer, plus materials. Use the planning table above as a rough guide only, and always get a written estimate.

How long does it take to pack a house?

As a rough guide, a crew of two often needs most of a working day for a three-bedroom home. Very full homes, big garages and two-storey layouts take longer. Doing it yourself usually takes far longer.

Does packing include unpacking?

Usually not — they’re typically quoted separately, and many providers let you book either one on its own. Ask what’s included, especially putting things away and removing boxes and paper.

How far ahead should I request quotes?

As early as you can for February–May and September–November, the Valley’s busiest seasons. Summer usually has more availability. Short-notice help is sometimes possible, depending on the provider.
